[ Synopsis ]
Rini Sasaki (佐々木リニ, Sasaki, Rini) is an S-ranked kunoichi from Amegakure who was mentored by Konan and, for a time, trained by “Madara” while she stayed in Konoha. She is the daughter of deceased Akatsuki members, Ryuu Uzumaki and Kohana Sasaki. During her time in Akatsuki, she was paired with Sasori. After being replaced by Deidara as Sasori's partner, she was assigned to be Akatsuki’s float for each team as needed for missions, most of her time used to help coming up with medicine and alleviating symptoms for Itachi's illness. Rini was born during the Second Shinobi World War, and lived with her mother, Kohana, full time, while her father, Ryuu fought in the war. Her mother met and offered Konan, Yahiko and Nagato food and shelter in exchange for their help gathering materials for warmth and making repairs when she caught them stealing from her shed, giving them a place they could finally call home.After the end of the Second Shinobi World War, Rini’s father, Ryuu came home and helped to raise Rini alongside his lover, Kohana. When both sets of parents agree to join the Akatsuki alongside their new-found family with the Amegakure trio, Rini meets her grandfather, Kenji, for the first time at a young age who begins training her in medical ninjutsu while her parents are away on missions.Having grown a tight relationship, one that would mimic siblinghood, Kohana and Ryuu name Nagato, Konan and Yahiko as Rini’s godparents.Due to her parents' major involvement in the rebel faction, Rini often spent time in the hideout that her parents helped to locate and renovate; while also supplying the group with their uniforms and resources. Witnessing their victories and defeats, a young Rini boosted morale to all Akatsuki members when they came back no matter the outcome of their missions.Rini’s parents were nearly killed along with the other Akatsuki members by Obito upon trying to rescue Yahiko. Obito leaves the two parents alive, purposely to have Konan and Nagato find them. Her parents are the only ones alive, but beyond saving, and Konan and Nagato decide it best to end their suffering.Nagato, with Konan’s help, comes back to the hideout to tell Kenji the news. While Kenji leaves to see if he can save at least his daughter Kohana, Nagato uses his and Konan’s status as Godparents in order to secure Rini’s future for the Akatsuki. Ryuu and Yahiko, named her Amegakure’s and Akatsuki’s “child of hope,” and Nagato planned to see that prophecy to fruition.
While initially miffed, Kenji eventually accepts that Rini’s guardianship is solely left to the remaining two members based on his daughter’s wishes, asking only that he continue to train her in medical ninjutsu and the techniques of her mother’s clan. They expected this of Kenji, therefore, they agreed.Ages 6-13
After Nagato agrees to Obito’s original offer, Obito uses their new guardianship over Rini to his advantage, positioning himself as a mentor for Rini, fully intending to mold her into a weapon completely devoted to the Akatsuki and its agenda.Konan helps train Rini alongside Kenji, taking a quieter role as she steadily reinforces Yahiko’s original vision for the Akatsuki, what true peace is, having never trusted Obito.After Amegakure’s civil war, and Pain assumes power of Amegakure, Rini is sent on several missions having been trained specially in espionage, luring and trapping; at different times in Iwa, Suna, Kiri, Konoha and various other small villages and countries.Ages 14-16
In Konoha, Rini is given a backstory of being born to Konoha natives, but her parents were slain during the war, and she was adopted by Hanzo when he found her on the battlefield. “Hanzo” wanted her transferred to Konoha to be cared for and raised by her ‘real grandparents’.With this backstory and the world’s lack of knowledge that Hanzo had been overthrown, with Pain now in leadership, she was able to gain citizenship and become a genin of Konoha. She quickly became noticed for her talent and skill in various areas, particularly in medical ninjutsu, and genjutsu, and after a year was scouted for the ANBU black ops.She wears a Kitsune mask with rabbit ears; this symbolism in traditional Japanese folklore and artwork depicts that Kitsune shapeshifts into beautiful young women and other life forms, like rabbits, to trick people. This double analogy is undetected by many, since Rini is in fact an undercover spy in Konoha and eventually a double agent: Danzo notices her talent, but suspicious of her backstory, he takes her on as a Root member, but secretly puts his adopted son and root captain, Kyousuke, in charge of her to keep a close eye on her. His son in particular is used to keep the village in order and ‘at peace,’ so, together the two learn of the Uchiha’s coup and report it back to Danzo.Obito uses her newly acquired position to his advantage and for over a year, Rini slips Obito any intel she gathers; having befriended Shisui, Izumi, Itachi, and Kyousuke, led Rini to small bits of intel, particularly with the growing restlessness of the Uchiha. When Rini tells him about the coup d'état the Uchiha were planning, he planned to exacerbate it, but one night, Rini was discovered in the Uchiha compound by Itachi.
Itachi and Rini’s growing relationship made him show mercy despite knowing she was spying, instead, he asks who she is reporting to. She states that she reports to Madara. Unsure if she’s telling the truth, he asks her to take him to see him.During this meeting, Itachi asks for his assistance in eliminating the clan, but demands that Konoha be left alone and his spy, Rini, be removed from its borders. Obito agrees and after they plot and execute the massacre of the clan, Rini, who did not participate, is ridden with guilt over the slaughter of the clan. During this time, Danzo established Rini was too dangerous to be left alive and had fulfilled her duties for Konoha, ordered Kyousuke slay Rini using the commotion as a shield so it could be done without notice.Obito saves a distraught Rini when Kyousuke appears behind her. A moment of hesitation caused Kyousuke to not act swiftly enough and she was taken right under his nose. Obito states he will leave him alive purely because he was not worth killing. After having gone back to Danzo, his right Sharingan is stolen by him, after being called weak when he admits to hesitating, which led to her getting away, stating he should have let Itachi kill him too, since he was half Uchiha. Proceeding the Uchiha downfall, Rini returns to Amegakure. Following after, when Rini is sixteen, the news of the death of Anna, she seeks revenge for her, knowing that outsiders were trafficking in her village and she had perished after being sold off.Through knowledge that Konan was seeking to take over a small but powerful village, Rini requests to be placed on an undercover mission as a training courtesan with the intention of finding the main source of trafficking/business exchange and to take it down. Konan held off on her request with the intention of sending someone else to conquer this village for the Akatsuki. Seeing as the village’s main source of income came from its entertainment, destroying it would leave it open to taking over, to create Akatsuki’s first satellite village.However, after some deliberation, ‘Madara’ and Nagato agree that Rini’s training best suits the delicate and refined nature of the mission and should be the one to go.Once there, she is immediately made into a courtesan, rather than one in training, due to the traditional ideas that she was already a woman. This leads to her only having undergone training for about 6 weeks. Rini started her short apprenticeship with Oiran Eru in Akachōchingakure (あかちょうちん隠れの里) Akachōchingakure no Sato, literally meaning: Village Hidden Among the Red Lanterns).By seventeen, in the world of village politics, Rini's goes from a skilled courtesan to a revered oiran, marked by cunning maneuvers and calculated deception. Her striking beauty was matched only by her cunning and intelligence, making her a formidable player in the complex game of power. With deft manipulation and careful planning, she navigated the landscape, using her charm and charisma to manipulate powerful men while concealing her true intentions. In her mission to dismantle the trafficking ring of Akachōchingakure, Rini's strategic prowess helped to unveil its true mastermind, the Daimyō. Through calculated moves and meticulous planning, she orchestrated an operation that exposed the extent of the corruption, revealing that the sinister network extended far beyond mere thugs. As Akatsuki's first satellite village fell into their hands, Rini faced her final challenge, battling Konan for her place within the organization. Despite her defeat, Konan acknowledged Rini's valor even after facing so many opponents prior, officially inducting her into the Akatsuki. Sasori asks a different spy to tail Konoha’s rendezvous with Kabuto so he can still gather that intel, unknowing it was an ambush attempt on him. Orochimaru kills said spy, when he doesnt return, Sasori knows something had gone wrong in the interaction. Sasori sets up a different time to rendezvous with Kabuto.
Kabuto is under the assumption Sasori knows, (since ‘he sent Konoha to do his dirty work.’) but is acting like he does not. Therefore, in the next meeting, he does come with Orochimaru, who makes him an offer…

At first, he views her primarily as someone of interest to grow his collection one day.However, the years he spent observing her, he began to notice qualities that cannot be measured through combat. Her found her to be far more interesting than he initially expected. What began as a professional fascination slowly develops into a genuine curiosity about Rini herself, something Sasori is not accustomed to feeling.Sasori's detached nature gives Rini the freedom to feel safe, while Rini's warmth and genuine affection gradually draw him toward a kind of emotional connection he has long since forgotten. What begins as comfort slowly develops into something deeper, with Rini finding security in the one person who does not objectify her, and Sasori discovering that being valued for who he is can be just as powerful as being admired for what he can do.Deidara

Rini’s Art
Believing art to be something that is born, fades, and leaves echoes that endure across time—music speaks deeply to Rini’s philosophy. Gifted in many musical instruments, as well as song and dance, her signature sound is one that is high frequency reminiscent of a siren’s call. It’s operatic, haunting, and ethereal; often also named Gregorian Chanting, and / or following a similar sound to Scandinavian Kulning / Norse and Celtic tones.She is a kunoichi from Amegakure, and has been learning music from a very young age. She performs for an audience, and when the performance ends, her music leaves echoes behind that’ll leave the individual longing for more, never forgetting the alluring sound they came across. That is the definition of Rini’s art. Music and sound can be medicinal and can either heal or poison the mind, body and soul. That is how she identifies herself as a healer, as an artist and as a ninja.(Author’s Note: Most commonly used frequency is 432hz, ‘nature’s frequency,’ which improves sleep, is relaxing, provides mental clarity and ‘healing’ to the body. Most commonly used key is C Minor, which is expressive of softness, longing, sadness, solemnity, dignified earnestness and a passionate intensity. It lends itself most effectively to the portraiture of the supernatural. Soft longing.)The Artists and Their Differing ViewsWhile Deidara viewed everyone as an artist and respected his fellow artists, no one could ever change his view on his art. Sasori on the other hand believed the opposite. He does not believe everyone is an artist, and does not respect Deidara (likely very difficult for any fellow artist to gain his respect), however, he is open to hearing other viewpoints.Rini does not believe everyone is an artist, however, believes everyone is capable of creating art and can sometimes create art by accident. She sees the artistic value in many things, having a childlike view on the beauty of the world in general.Deidara and Sasori often debate and are competitive on whose art is supreme, oftentimes because Sasori is easily goaded into arguments.
Rini does not participate in these nor does she engage in individual battles of “art superiority” between either man. She does not view one type of art more valuable than another, referring back to a more child-wonderment of art.Deidara and Sasori sometimes take this as her ‘usual snobby, self-righteousness.’Deidara, and even Sasori, find enjoyment and amusement when they pull Rini into a debate by pushing her buttons.
